If tacos are your love language, the Jersey Shore totally understands.

There’s just something about finding that perfect taco spot, the one you can’t stop thinking about, the one you end up telling all your friends about (and dragging them to for birthdays… yes, I do this too).

Around Ocean and Monmouth County, we’re seriously spoiled when it comes to authentic Mexican food, and tacos are the star of the show.

Recently, I came across a list from Best of NJ highlighting some of the best Mexican restaurants in the state, and one of them instantly stood out because I had just been there.

A Hidden Gem I Can’t Stop Thinking About

If you haven’t been to El Tepeyac yet, put it on your list immediately.

I stopped in recently, and it’s exactly what you want in a local Mexican spot, bright colors, welcoming vibes, and that cozy, authentic feel the second you walk in. While everything on the menu looked amazing, I couldn’t resist going straight for the tacos (obviously), and they did not disappoint.

Fresh, flavorful, and perfectly put together, these are the kind of tacos that don’t need anything fancy. Just simple, authentic ingredients done right.

And bonus: they serve breakfast too. If you’ve never had tacos for breakfast, you are seriously missing out.

Why Tacos Always Win

Don’t get me wrong, I love a good margarita, and I’ll never say no to enchiladas or quesadillas. But tacos? They’re on a whole different level.

There’s something about the variety:

  • Street-style tacos with fresh cilantro and onion
  • Loaded, over-the-top creations
  • Breakfast tacos that hit different in the morning
  • Seafood tacos down the Shore (so good in the summer)

Every place does them a little differently, and that’s what makes trying new spots so fun.

Taco Nights Are a Tradition at This Point

I have a group of friends who are just as obsessed with Mexican food as I am, and for birthdays or random nights out, we’re always on the hunt for a new taco spot we haven’t tried yet.

It’s honestly become a tradition—and the Jersey Shore makes it easy because there are so many amazing options to choose from.

The Jersey Shore Taco Tour

From Ocean County to Monmouth County, there are at least 10 standout Mexican restaurants worth checking out—and if you’re like me, you’ll probably end up turning it into your own taco tour.

Some places lean more traditional, others put their own creative spin on things, but every single one has that one taco you’ll keep coming back for.

And that’s the best part, you never really run out of new favorites.

Final Bite 🌮

If you’re craving something packed with flavor, comforting, and just plain fun to eat, tacos are always the answer.

The Jersey Shore has no shortage of incredible Mexican restaurants, and whether you’re heading out for breakfast, dinner, or a casual taco night with friends, you’re guaranteed to find something amazing.
