Growing up in Pennsylvania, cheesesteaks were just part of life. Living in New Jersey, surprisingly, they're just as good as you can get in Philly.

Weekend trips, late-night runs, game days, there was always a reason to grab one. And for the longest time, I thought you had to go to Philly to get the real deal.

But here’s the truth… New Jersey more than holds its own.

From the Jersey Shore to North Jersey to South Jersey, there are spots serving up cheesesteaks that are every bit as satisfying, cheesy, and downright crave-worthy, thanks to thedigestonline.com. Honestly, some of these places might surprise you.

Jersey Shore Cheesesteaks That Hit Different

If you’re down the shore, you’re already in food heaven, and cheesesteaks are no exception.

One place that always comes to mind is The Galley in Asbury Park. It’s one of those spots that just gets it right every time. Simple, classic, and exactly what you want when that cheesesteak craving hits.

Then there’s Steaks Unlimited in Seaside Heights, and WOW, these are seriously delicious.

Right nearby, Cheesesteak Louie’s in Seaside is another must-try. And yes… WOW is the right word. So, so good.

And I have to say, my all-time favorite? That title goes to Johnny Longshots in Wildwood. There’s just something about their cheesesteaks that keeps me coming back.

Must-Try Cheesesteak Spots Beyond the Shore

The love for a great cheesesteak doesn’t stop at the beach.

Joe’s Steak Shop in Phillipsburg is another standout. It’s got that classic, no-frills feel,  just really good food done right.

The Raging Bull in Pennsauken brings serious flavor to the table.

And if you’re in North Jersey, you don’t have to go far. Piccolo’s in Hoboken is a local favorite for a reason. It’s one of those places people swear by.

Final Bite

Listen, Philly will always have its place, especially for those of us who grew up loving cheesesteaks. But New Jersey? It’s not just competing… it’s thriving.
