Berkeley Township Mayor Carmen Amato announced on Friday that the Manitou Park Summer Basketball League will begin on Monday June 29 with drills and games will commence on July 6 and going thru August 8.

The league games will be held at the 3rd Avenue basketball court in Manitou Park.

You can sign up at the Berkeley Township Recreation Center on Route 9.

It's $70.00 per child from ages 8 to 19, with all proceeds from the league going to the Manitou Parks basketball program.

Meanwhile, summer camp registration for 1st thru 6th grade is already underway at www.btrec.org and in person from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm during the week at the recreation center.

Camps will run from July 6 until August 14 Monday thru Friday from 9:30 am until 3:00 pm.

With social distancing guidelines in place, camps will be split among four locations.

For the first four weeks, campers will rotate between the Recreation Center at 630 Atlantic City Boulevard, the Nature Study building at 500 Western Boulevard, Central Regional Middle School and Veterans Park.

The current plan is to finish the camps with everyone at Veterans Park but at no time will there be busing of campers to and from camp.

Everyone must bring a mask and wear it when appropriate to do so, Mayor Amato said, and daily temperature checks will be taken on all staff and campers.

Campers must also practice social distancing.

"We understand this is not what many of you are used to but we are doing the best we can considering the Governor's stringent guidelines and for the safety of your children. As always, thank you for your patience and understanding,"  Mayor Amato said.
