The Beachwood First Aid Squad has organized efforts to help a registered nurse and her Borough family whose home was destroyed by a basement fire early Tuesday and is seeking monetary and clothing donations for the Armstrong's.

A GoFundMe campaign has raised more than $7,000 so far for the family, who escaped their Halliard Avenue home unharmed, but lost two pets and their personal possessions, according to the Patch.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Ocean County Fire Marshal's Office and the Beachwood Bureau of Fire Prevention, according to the Beachwood Volunteer Fire Company's Facebook page.

The Patch reports the Beachwood First Aid Squad is accepting checks as well as clothing donations and new toys for for Jessica and Patrick Armstrong and their three-year-old son. Items can be dropped off at Beachwood Community Day at Birch & Surf Park, from Noon to 5 p.m., according to the squad.

Items being sought include women's size 10/12 pants and large tops, men's size 36 waist pants and large tops, and size 3T clothes.
