Yes, Virginia, beaches will be open in Ocean & Monmouth Counties in time for Memorial Day Weekend, the "unofficial" start to the summer tourism season at the Jersey Shore.

Here's what you need to know about hitting the beach for the holiday weekend:

Governor Murphy announced this week that beaches in the Garden State will open beginning May 22nd. Just one week away!

According to The Townsquare New Jersey news team, Governor Murphy said beaches and lakefronts must limit the number of visitors given access to the beaches so people can properly socially distance. Families and households are allowed to cluster together, but otherwise, people will need to be six feet apart.

Officials hope this will give the Jersey Shore a much needed economic boost amidst the Coronavirus Crisis here in New Jersey.

Check with your municipality about rules and regulations so you can properly and safely enjoy our beautiful beaches next weekend.
