Bayville’s Derek Mayer is our Warrior of the Week

Townsquare Media and the Jay & Linda Grunin Foundation are teaming up to salute our local heroes with our Warrior of the Week program.

Congratulations to Derek Mayer, our Warrior of the Week for the week of March 25th, 2019.

From Derek's mother & nominator:

Derek joined the airforce in 2012 but put his departure on hold after I had to have emergency surgery. Being a single mom he didn’t want to leave not knowing if I was going to be ok and able to care for myself having such extensive surgery. When he knew I was ok the following year he fulfilled his commitment and left for service. Derek re-enlisted just recently as an airforce reserve. In addition to his military duties, he continues to serve our community as a police officer. I am honored to say he is my son and I couldn’t be any prouder of him.
