According to the Authorities, "her manner of death was homicide, and the cause of death was complications of multiple blunt force trauma injuries with chronic abuse."

According to her sister, the apartment where Burdette was discovered belonged to a relative of her late children’s father. The father of her two daughters, ages three and six, passed away a few years ago.
