Atlantic City Casinos Set Gross Revenue Record For June, 2021
The Division of Gaming Enforcement has released the Atlantic City Casinos June 2021 total Gross Gaming Revenue results.
It’s an all-time record-setting performance for the month of June.
The World’s Play Ground (WPG) gaming jurisdiction generated $345.7 million June 2021 total gross gaming revenue to surpass the prior record set in July 2011 ($340.5 million).
It should be noted that there is now Internet gaming and sports betting, but, it’s still great news for the Atlantic City Gaming jurisdiction.
By comparison, June 2019, the Atlantic City casino industry generated $278.14 million. June, 2021 features a $67.5 million increase (2021 over 2019).
We’re not comparing June, 2021 versus June, 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic last year.
The $214.5 million, “Bricks and Mortar” casino win for June, 2021 continued a pattern of recovery for the Atlantic City casino gaming industry with four months in-a-row of sustained growth.
Also, the June, 2021 ”Bricks and Mortar” is better than five of the past 6 years (for the month of June).
Internet gaming revenue growth always slows during the summer months. But, it is increasing year-over-year, so this is also a favorable trend.
Jane Bokunewicz is the faculty director of the Lloyd D. Levenson Institute of Gaming, Hospitality and Tourism (LIGHT) on the June 2021 numbers released by the Division of Gaming Enforcement. She has released the following public comment:
“Growth of both internet and brick and mortar gaming revenues demonstrates the importance of operators diversifying their offerings by providing both methods of gaming for their customers.
Casino patrons don’t have to visit the casino in-person in order to gamble, the fact that they are visiting suggests they are getting more out of the experience than gambling alone.
This would be good news for operators and also shows the benefits of diversifying the city’s entertainment options and other non-gaming amenities” said Bokunewcz.
