Another Wildfire Burns in Ocean County and Closing Roads in Little Egg Harbor

I was driving today south on the Garden State Parkway between Manahawkin (Exit 63) and Little Egg Harbor (Exit 58) when I noticed a road closure notice on the electronic billboards on the Parkway. It indicated there were closures just off of exit 58 in Little Egg Harbor due to brush fires.

As we exited at mile marker 58, there was the Ocean County Sheriff's Department with the road closed on Route 539. No traffic was allowed onto Route 539 West towards Warren Grove. We could see fire crews down that way as we exited to head east toward Downtown Tuckerton.

According to CBS Philly, "The New Jersey Forest Fire Service says a wildfire that started burning around 10 a.m. Saturday has grown to 200 acres. Route 539 was closed from the town of Warren Grove down to Forge Road. No residential structures are threatened by the fire, but a large plume of smoke was visible around the Jersey Shore, including parts of Burlington and Ocean counties. Residents are asked to avoid the area."

We remind you that Route 539 was closed between the Garden State Parkway (Exit 58) and Warren Grove, so avoid that section. No further word at this time on the status.
