Last week we told you about the just announced closing of the West Long Branch Kmart, the final remaining location in Ocean and Monmouth Counties.

This week, another era is coming to an end with the closure of the area's last Sears location.

The closure of the Freehold Raceway Mall Sears was announced back in December with officials targeting "mid-February" as the anticipated end of the line.

Sears and Kmart are actually owned by the same parent company, so it's in line with the trend of both Sears and Kmart locations locking the doors these last few years.

The closing of the Freehold Sears will mark the end of brick and mortar Sears locations in Ocean and Monmouth Counties.

The Sears website still lists about dozen New Jersey locations, but NJ.com just reported last week that both the Woodbridge and Moorestown locations will be closing by this spring.

The Ocean County Mall Sears closed about 2 years ago.
