There is a change with Amazon shipping today and will impact the upcoming Prime Day next week.

We've all ordered stuff from Amazon and we've seen what I'm going to write about. Those plastic air pillows that we receive from packages in New Jersey and North America.

But, Amazon recently announced they already removed almost 95 percent of those plastic air pillows that are so annoying, at least to me.

I found them incredibly hard to pop to throw out. I realize they were protecting the things in the box, but there has to be a better solution. Did you have trouble with these in your Amazon packages?

By the end of 2024 they should all be removed from packages, Amazon says.

From aboutamazon.com: "The removal of 95% of our plastic air pillows is another step in our path to avoid and reduce packaging—and part of our multi-year effort to remove plastic delivery packaging from North America fulfillment centers."

What's Amazon replacing the packaging air pillows with?

The packaging pillows will be replaced with paper fillers made from 100 percent of recycled materials, according to Amazon.

From a statement from aboutamazon.com: "We’re constantly inventing and thinking big to make our packaging small. We want to ensure that customers receive their items undamaged while using as little packaging as possible to avoid waste, and prioritizing recyclable materials."

So, what does this mean for Prime Day and how will it affect us? It really won't, the majority of our packages will not have those air pillows for packages in them. Happy shopping on Prime Day. Amazon Prime Day is July 16th and July 17th.
