If you’re a runner or just a walker than you can help out one of the shore’s most important charitable causes.

The Causeway Family of Dealerships is inviting you to participate in their 3rd Annual Causeway Family 5K Run & Walk on Sunday, October 25 at Southern Regional High School in Manahawkin.  All proceeds will be donated to Fulfill who some might remember as the FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties.  They continue to fight hunger in our community and fulfill more of the needs of our neighbors.

The Causeway Family through the first two years of this race has donated $22,000:  $10,000 in the first year and $12,000 last year and the goal for upcoming race is $15,000.  Registration is $30.00 and the first 250 to sign up will receive a free T-shirt plus there will be overall and age group awards as well as door prizes.

To sign-up visit raceforum.com/causeway and remember you will running and walking to help feed those in need.

In today’s challenging times twenty-five years in business is certainly worth celebrating and that’s what they will be doing this Saturday at Tong Dragon Mixed Martial Arts in Bayville.  Eric Colon and his wife Julie are hosting the event to mark a quarter-century of operating their martial arts gym from 5 p.m. -7 p.m.  There will be a Playa Bowls Food Truck, face painting for the kids, 25 years of pictures to look at and it will be a nice way for many former and current students to get together.

Eric by the way is recognized as one of the top MMA judges and travels all over the world to work fights.  Tong Dragon was one of the original mixed martial arts schools in the shore and state and the public is invited to Saturday’s celebration.

Unrelated to either of these topics is the fact that my commitment to wearing shorts to work every day has ended.  Not because of the weather but a lack of wardrobe and footwear as well as the fact my summer tan is all but gone.  Sad news for sure.

The good news is that I still have not worn socks and that will continue for a bit longer.
