Investigations begin to learn the cause of this morning's voluminous fire that drive a family of eight from their home in Keansburg. The father was hospitalized in critical condition after rescuing several of his children, including an infant.

Tonight at the Pine Belt Arena in Toms River, the three-month pilot project to allow Ocean County Medicaid cheats to pay fines and avoid prosecution undergoes public comment. The New Jersey Comproller's Office prompted the program in the aftermath of a rash of arrests in Lakewood, with the support of the County Prosecutor's Office.

Ocean County Vocational Technical students would choose from their broadest menu of career paths to date, and the training would encourage businesses with no Ocean County foothold to move in, if Freeholder Director Joe Vicari succeeds in his new venture. He hopes to reshape Vo-Tech curriculum to meet a broader spectrum of interests, and to give graduates more reasons to set down roots instead of finding work elsewhere, while strengthening the county's fiscal base.
