Crossing an Ocean County county highway in Toms River ends a township woman's life. Police said that Manuela Morales Torres died on Hooper Avenue late Sunday afternoon, run down by a SUV driven by Rosemary Goebels, also a township resident. Still to be determined is whether the victim was in a crosswalk. A companion survived and is hospitalized.

The alleged gunman in the Texas church shooting massacre has a spotty past. Devin Kelley was given a bad-conduct discharge by the Air Force in 2012 after a court martial. He's accused of taking 26 lives with an assault weapon.
