Two dozen New Jersey residents are under investigation for possibly having the novel coronavirus.

In an effort to corral state agencies and resources together to be prepared for the novel coronavirus, the governor has declared a state of emergency but he is urging the public to remain calm and not panic.

State Health commissioner Judy Persichilli says mitigation efforts could involve asking people to telecommute and closing schools and daycare centers for limited periods of time in certain areas.

Several schools are either cancelling classes or altering schedules.

The NJSIAA ice hockey finals at the prudential center and boys and girls basketball tournaments at various locations are scheduled to take place as planned.
