Assembly Speaker Vin Prieto dug in against a stipulation by Governor Christie to use $300,000,000 of surplus held by the state's largest health insuror, for opiate addiction treatment services.

If the deadline passes, state parks and rec areas would be closed. But not to worry, there's a plethora of muncipal, county, and privately-operated swim areas, parks, beaches and amusement centers. Next week, MVC and New Jersey's other services and agencies would be idle, along with road projects, and state workers by the thousands would be sleeping in.

A Manahawkin 17-year-old sustains head and face lacerations after plowing his SUV into a utility pole overnight in Stafford. Police said his was the only vehicle involved. He was ticketed for having no probationary-license decal, driving outside permitted hours, careless driving and failing to maintain a lane.
