A Toms River towing firm and its owner owe a total of nearly $110,000 in damages to a former dispatcher and to the state, stemming from sexual harassment claims. The former employee, a single mom of three, was awarded almost $58,000, which is about $50,000 more than an administrative law judge decreed earlier this year.

Today marks the opening of what might be New Jersey's last bear hunt for a while. It's firearms-only through Saturday, or later, depending on the number of bagged bruins. Governor-elect Phil Murphy advocated a moratorium during his campaign.

It's also the day that the US Supreme Court takes up New Jersey's challenge to a federal law that permits sports wagering in only four states. Prior to the passage of that measure, New Jersey was one of 46 states to pass up the opportunity. If the Garden State succeeds in its challenge, some sources estimate that as many as 32 other states will seek to legalize it.
