Brick Township officials and a few state lawmakers are searching for answers after a retirement community that's normally safe from flooding was filled with up to six feet of water during Monday's storm.

A 2009 law allowed state colleges to partner with private-sector developers to pay for campus construction, and Stockton, Montclair State and the College of New Jersey did just that. Now a new law signed Tuesday takes the idea beyond colleges to all levels of New Jersey government.

The Ocean Township Fire District Number 2 has been awarded more than $67-thousand in a grant from the Department of Homeland Security through the assistance to firefighters grant program.
