The Coolest Movie Theater Experience, Just A Short Drive From New Jersey
One of my favorite activities is to go to the movies.
When I was living the single life I would go to the movies by myself all of the time, it was so relaxing.
For some reason you can be more immersed in the movie if you go alone, I tend to look at the person I'm with to see their reaction to scenes.
Now that I'm married, I haven't done a solo trip to the movies...but I won't lie I want to and should soon.
I'm also a person who will see a movie multiple times in theaters, I saw Avengers 7 times in theaters and Avengers: End Game three times in just one weekend...
That being said, I love to find new theater experiences to catch a movie out.
Last night, I found the coolest movie theater experience ever that was worth the 3-hour round trip.
Regal Cinemas has new 4DX theaters around the country, with the closest one to me being at the King of Prussia Mall in Pennsylvania.
Last night, my brother and I decided to go see Wicked for a second time at this 4DX theater, and let me tell you, it was well worth the drive and the $30 ticket price.
The seats at the 4DX theaters move and I don't mean move like certain Disney rides, it almost feels like you're going to be flung out of the seat. It is so much fun.
This movement makes you feel like you are moving throughout the movie and any action that occurs jostles you around so much.
In the beginning scene of Wicked with the flying monkeys flying out of a window and around a river, the seats move so much giving you the feeling that you are flying around with them.
As the monkey flew over a river and up a waterfall, a water mist came out of the seat.
Depending on the scene, scents were pumped into the theater. Throughout the movie, you smell a variety of flowers and perfumes.
Some of the other features used in Wicked include flashing lights on the walls, fog under the screen, a piece of plastic that will tickle your ankles, a breeze in the theater, and something that feels like a back massager that would push on various parts of your back when a character fell and when the monkeys got their wings.
I've seen videos that include bubbles and fake snow for other movies.
The final scene of the movie, during the song "Defying Gravity," was so much fun as you got whipped around in your chair to simulate Elphaba flying around on her broom.
If you have popcorn with you, I would suggest eating a bunch before the movie starts so it doesn't go flying everywhere.
My brother got a beer, which was impossible to drink during certain scenes because of how much we were moving.
I had to contain my giggling throughout the entire movie because I was having so much fun.
If you don't mind driving out to the King of Prussia Mall, I highly recommend checking it out for yourself.
