4-Year-Old Boy Dies After Gunshot Wound To The Head: Prosecutor
BROWNS MILLS — A 4-year-old boy was pronounced dead after police discovered him with a fatal gunshot wound, according to a statement released by Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina on Friday evening.
Pemberton Township Police responded to a 911 distress call at a Maricopa Trail residence around 7:07 pm. The call explicitly said that a young boy, aged only 4, suffered a gunshot wound to the head.
EMS also responded to the residence and subsequently transported the boy to Virtua Deborah Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
"We believe the gunshot wound was self-inflicted, but the circumstances of the shooting remain under investigation, and we will provide updates as we learn more about this tragic incident," the statement concluded.
