In what is seemingly a daily, weekly and/or monthly occurrence cars continue to be left unlocked, many with the keys inside, and then are either stolen or valuables are taken from them.

In Barnegat last weekend, police said that 5 vehicles were stolen and as of Tuesday all but one have been returned.

In Jackson on Tuesday, police made a similar announcement but in this case the cars remained but hundreds of dollars worth of valuables did not.

A lot of these instances seem to naturally take place in the middle of the night, when people are in bed and not many are out and about.

Jackson Police said 13 vehicles, unlocked, were looted of valuables in the early morning hours on Monday.

The investigations are naturally underway and police are currently taking a look at security systems provided by the residents in the area which show the men wearing black and gray hooded sweatshirts with masks on over their faces appear to be the ones behind the rash of car burglaries in Jackson at this point.

As they build their case, Jackson Police are asking anyone with information about the incidents is asked to contact headquarters at 732-928-1111.

Like all the other police departments who have been investigating these incidents, police in Jackson are asking you to bring your valuables inside or hide them, lock the car and bring the keys with you.

Don't make it easy for people to steal your valuables or your car.

"The Jackson Police Department is again reminding residents to remove valuables from their vehicles, including key fobs, and lock them when parked. Do not give a thief an easy opportunity to make you a crime victim."
