The New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission has resolved its computer issues and are up and running on Wednesday.

"The systems are operational but we are experiencing some sporadic downtime that is being addressed. Things in general are up," said MVC spokeswoman Sandy Grossman. She said it was only drivers licenses and non-drivers ID's that were affected by the outage yesterday. "All the other operations have not had any issues" like registrations and titles. Online services are also running.

The state Office of Information Technology continues to work on resolving the remaining issues.  "It is something we are hoping to take care of ASAP,"  Grossman said.

Grossman said no decision has been made regarding those who needed to renew but said renewal notices are sent out 2 months

She also could not pinpoint a specific cause of the outage.

According to the MVC website, its offices statewide on Tuesday were "unable to process license transactions," — prompting widespread reports of frustrated customers who waited until the end of the month to renew their drivers licenses. The message remained posted early Wednesday morning but was removed by 8 a.m.

An attempt to change an address and renew a vehicle registration on the MVC website at 6 a.m. on Wednesday morning were both met by the message "Due to a temporary error the request could not be serviced." A second attempt just before 8 a.m. was successful.

The problems began last week with a "hardware failure." according to 6 ABC.  The state Office of Information Technology is responsible for maintaining state computers.

Many customers took to Twitter to express their frustration at the problem on Tuesday.
