If a you were to write a list of things that you should know and rules about Ocean County beaches for visitors, what would you make sure to include?

This article, written for the BBC blog "Mind the Gap" is written from the perspective of a British visitor, to other vacationing Brits.

They make sure to point out that toplessness is not as smiled upon at American beaches as it may be at European beaches. They mention the fact that lifeguards are there for a reason, and should be listened to. And, as we all know, they mention the fact that not all American beaches are free, even pointing out that New Jersey beaches are notoriously "pay to play".
