Authorities said that he was discovered by members of the Monmouth County Emergency Response Team (MOCERT) and Rapid Deployment Force (RDF) during a search of a house in the Fox Chase enclave.

Investigators have not released the identity of the individual, saying only that there was no threat to the surrounding area, and noreason to believe that anyone else was in the house.

They offered no indication of the presence of any weapons, or conjecture on his state of mind, or the reason he locked himself in an attic. The information doesn't clarify whether he was the object, or a byproduct, of the search.

Tinton Falls police and Monmouth County Sheriff's officers also responded.

We will fill in details as they become available.
