Three Barnegat people are under arrest and a plethora of drugs seized along with $27,000 in cash in a July 2 raid by township police

Patrick Guinane, 26, and Sandra Mayfield, 38, were charged shortly after the Barnegat Police Narcotics Unit moved in  around 1:18 PM. A third suspect, Michael Guinane, 28, is expected to surrender today.

Police say that during surveillance operations in the vicinity of Red Coat Drive, they watched Patrick Guinane engage in a "hand-to-hand" drug transaction with Mayfield. As officers approached, Mayfield swallowed heroin and cocaine in an attempt to avoid arrest, say investigators.

She was treated for ingestion at Southern Ocean Medical Center in Manahawkin while Patrick Guinane was ferried to police headquarters.

The incident triggered a search of Patrick Guinane's Sextant Drive house. Investigators say they recovered $1,000 worth of cocaine, doses of alprazolam and suboxone, drug-related items, a 2004 Chevrolet Blazer and the stash of money. Michael Guinane was charged as a result of the search.

Patrick Guinane is charged with third-degree possession of cocaine, possession of heroin, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of heroin with intent to distribute, distribution of cocaine, and distribution of heroin. He was sent to the Ocean County Jail in Toms River, in default of $75,000 bail.

Mayfield is charged with third-degree possession of cocaine and possession of heroin, and fourth-degree tampering with evidence. She was released on her own recognizance pending a court date.

Michael Guinane will be charged with third-degree possession of alprazolam and possession of suboxone.
