There are many names for the "woodchuck" .... including groundhog, chuck, wood-shock, ground pig, whistlepig, whistler and thickwood badger.

I have seen individual fawns around but this time I spotted 3 and possibly a 4th fawn all together .... so I had to try and grab a quick pic and video on my phone before they took off. No sighting of Mom. I'll keep an eye out and keep you posted .... do I need to provide cookies and juice box' at my "baby deer daycare" ?

If YOU live in Ocean or Monmouth Counties you probably have seen "turtle crossing" signs. Residents have posted these reminders throughout the Jersey Shore to help spare the terrapins from being hit by motorists as they make their way to lay eggs this Spring/Summer.

We need to be on the lookout for turtles where we don't usually see them. The reason they are out and about right now is that males are looking for females. And females are looking for places to lay their eggs.

Tuesday morning I was heading home on Nugentown Road in Little Egg Harbor when something caught my eye!

Saturday afternoon one of our neighbors noticed something in our yard as he was walking his dog. After he took a closer look he discovered it was a baby deer. He watched as the fawn stumbled under a tree on our property, making sure it didn't run into the road and traffic. We came out and found the lil guy/girl resting under a holly tree.
