Toms River

Toms River, New Jersey is the 2nd largest town in Ocean County. The town is believed to be named after Thomas Luker, who ran a ferry across Goose Creek (now the Toms River) in the mid-1700s.

Toms River is 70 miles south of Manhattan and 55 miles east of Philadelphia. Toms River borders fellow Ocean County municipalities of Berkeley Township, Brick Township, Island Heights, Jackson Township, Lakewood Township, Lavallette, Manchester Township, Seaside Heights and South Toms River.

The population of Toms River is just under 100,000 residents.

Toms River is the hometown of former UFC Lightweight Champion Frankie Edgar
and Major League Baseball player Todd Frazier.


Another Vacant Building on Route 37
Our latest real estate question is concerning this old 7-11 on Route 37 in Toms River. This site is currently dark and has been shut down for awhile. It’s a busy section of Route 37 near Lakehurst Road. Recently we have seen several 7-11’s close in Ocean County.
Downtown Toms River Road Construction Update
In an earlier post, we mentioned that road construction was going to begin in Downtown Toms River. This construction began on June 1st and you may see crews working, especially from 7 pm to 6 am, and with that road closures and detours in the Downtown district in Toms River.
