Seaside Boardwalk Fire

Despite the destruction of Thursday's boardwalk fire just to the south, the Seaside Heights boardwalk is open and members of the Business Improvement District say long-awaited events this weekend will take place, and they predict the same for the full lineup of autumn activities.

Suffice to say, yesterday afternoon and evening were a blur for many of us here in Ocean County. This morning we woke up and got a full look at the devastation in Seaside.

A quick-moving blaze that damaged four blocks of the Seaside boardwalk is 95 percent contained, according to Governor Chris Christie. Fire crews could be on scene for days to address "hot pockets."

Three police officers were seriously hurt when they fell off a military transport truck leaving the area of the boardwalk fire in Seaside Heights.

Mother Nature wreaked havoc on the Jersey Shore eleven months ago and she paid a return visit to Seaside Park and Seaside Heights Thursday.

Not even a year yet since our boardwalk was ravaged from Hurricane Sandy, a huge fire engulfed  the Seaside Park boardwalk and parts of Seaside Heights.

Firefighters continue to fight a 10-alarm blaze that started at the Kohr's Custard stand in Seaside Park on Wednesday afternoon and engulfed the boardwalk in Seaside Park at Funtown Pier moved quickly north into Seaside Heights.

Governor Chris Christie went to Seaside Heights on Thursday night to see the devastating boardwalk fire in Seaside Heights and Seaside Park first hand.
