Remembering Bob Levy

It all started on this day, March 1st, 51 years ago. That's when 92.7 WOBM became Ocean County's first radio station!

Earlier today, Toms River's Mayor Kelaher along with Councilman Maurice 'Mo' Mill and Townsquare Media's Kevin Williams and Marianne Levy unveiled 'Bob Levy Way'.

Tomorrow morning at 10:15 a.m. Toms River Township officials will host a special ceremony and unveil a street sign for “Bob Levy Way”.

Friends and family said goodbye and paid their final respects to Bob Levy on a wet and snowy Wednesday evening this past week.

Those of us who loved Bob Levy, liked him, admired him, worked with him or just listened to him will gather to remember him in a memorial gathering on Wednesday.

As we continue to mourn the loss of our friend Bob Levy, information regarding his services has been announced.

I felt a bit intimidated but got up the courage to introduce myself to Bob Levy. I said I was a new employee and we chatted for a few minutes. Over the years I got to see the side of him that was warm and witty.

Radio and Ocean County has lost a giant. I lost a mentor and friend who impacted my life greatly. I will miss him dearly but he left me with enough stories to last another lifetime and I will tell them forever.

It was a celebration of WOBM yesterday as we celebrated the station's 50th anniversary. The same day, the same man who went on the air 50 years ago passed away.
