Kissing Bugs

A pharmaceutical company with New Jersey roots has given the country a new weapon against Chagas disease, spread by these blood-sucking insects.

The CDC has updated their official map of Triatomine bugs, or 'kissing bugs' to include both Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

These pests that can cause a deadly disease are slowly making their way north, with newly confirmed sightings just beyond New Jersey's borders.

Triatomine bugs, also known as 'kissing bugs' and which can carry a parasite that causes Chagas disease may be making New Jersey their next stop.
