The New Jersey Forest Fire Service is warning people about the dangers of drones near attempts at firefighting.

If you smell smoke or see a hazy sky in South Jersey, it could be because of the Wildfire burning near Vineland in Cumberland County.

Update on Vineland Forest Fire

At one point over the weekend, smoke from a South Jersey forest fire could be seen on weather radar, making its way from the Wharton State Forest to the coast of South Jersey.

Heroic First Responders battled a blaze over the weekend in Southern Ocean County. Firefighters from towns around the State responded to this fire that burned approximately 1,000 acres in Little Egg Harbor.

Last night as I went to walk my dog before bed, I opened the door and the thick smell of smoke was filling the air. Every now and then I have neighbors who get a little overzealous with bonfires, but last night was way too muggy and hot to be able to enjoy a bonfire, and this smell wasn't just that of an evening around the campfire.

Don't worry, it's not a forest fire.

A fire on the gunnery range at Fort Dix continued to burn on Wednesday morning but is contained, according to a spokesman as a second fire broke out in Lakewood.

If you're waking up this morning in Ocean and Monmouth Counties you may be smelling smoke.  So, what is it?  It's the smell following a wildfire at Bass River State Park. According to forest fire officials the blaze was contained at 464 acres and no structures were threatened...
