US News and World Report has come out with their list of the top high schools in the nation and right here at the Jersey Shore! See what High Schools are ranked best in the state and how they ranked nationally.

Here are the Top 5 from Ocean and Monmouth Counties:

  1. Academy of Allied Health and Science, Neptune (#378 in National Rankings)
  2. Communications High School, Wall (#761 in National Rankings)
  3. Manasquan High School, Manasquan (#1752 in National Rankings)
  4. Point Pleasant Beach High School, Point Pleasant Beach (#2004 in National Rankings)
  5. Toms River High School North, Toms River (#2244 in National Rankings)

The Number 1 ranked High School in the nation is BASIS Scottsdale in Scottsdale, Arizona.

According to US News and World Report here is the formula they use to rank schools:

  • STEP 1 | Students perform better than expected in their state.

  • STEP 2 | Disadvantaged students perform better than state average.

  • STEP 3 | Student graduation rates meet or exceed a national standard

    • STEP 4 | Students are prepared for college-level coursework.
