One of the best decisions I ever made was to join the Rotary Club.  Through it, I've been able to meet great people from all over the world.  And because it's a service organization, I've been able to feel like I'm giving back and hopefully making a difference in peoples' lives.  Rotary is the organization I'm most familiar with but I know many of you are members of other organizations which do good things to help people.  Where are our Lion's Club and Kiwanis Club members?  Where do local Optimists and Soroptimists meet?

I thought we could use this blog space today to learn what clubs are doing what at the Jersey Shore.  So here's what I propose:  use the Comments section to list the name of your organization, then in a couple of sentences, list some of your group's efforts, then type a website address or phone number for people who want more information.

And if you're club is planning an event that the public is welcome to attend, you can send us the info for possible inclusion in our Hometown Happenings listings on our website.

These days it seems service organizations are losing members but the more people who get involved, the more people can be helped.  Many hands really do make light work.  So if you're part of a service organization that welcomes new members, please take a minute to tell us about your club or chapter.
