January 20th will mark a year since President Trump was sworn in as the 45th President of The United States of America. In that time, he has captivated the attention of the world, whether it be in a negative or positive light.

Whether you like it or not, during the Trump Administration we have been seeing record numbers on Wall Street and in job growth throughout the country. On the flip side, the President has angered people when he denied Transgender people from serving in the military, when he withdrew from the Paris Climate Agreement, or more recently, when he went on the campaign trail with Alabama Senate hopeful Roy Moore who is accused of having relationship[s] with underage women before he was in the political arena.

When you take a glance at the polls, you can assume that to the average American, the bad outweighs the good, hence the current approval rating of the Trump Administration being right around 35-37%. Well, that doesn't seem to be the case at Ocean County College.

Before the election, I told you that Ocean County College students seem to overwhelmingly support then-candidate Donald Trump over [who was thought to be the frontrunner] Hillary Clinton. I noted in my blog that my findings were purely based on my observations by talking with students and overhearing others – and that is the same for this post.

You can just tell by some of the bumper stickers when you pull into the parking lots on campus that the “Make America Great Again” spirit is in full swing. Recently, Trump came up in one of my classes last semester and, I would say maybe 90% of the class (of 20-23 students) were proud of Donald Trump being our president. The majority of the students that I have talked to on-campus also believe that President Trump is doing a good job in the Oval Office.

I thought that my findings were particularly interesting because if you look at most of the colleges throughout the state and the nation, you will find that the atmosphere is likely liberal and leaning towards a Bernie or Hillary fever – so I definitely think that the atmosphere at Ocean County College is unique.

Now of course, my findings are anecdotal in a sense. I did not conduct an official poll -- although I would have liked too.  I am only on campus twice or three times a week for only a couple of hours at a time. Ocean County College operates almost every day of the week from the early morning to the late evening so there are many more students with many different opinions of the Trump Administration. These results are a basic round-up of what I concluded over the past couple of months during my time on campus.

I am interested to hear from any student[s] that attend Ocean County College, or another college in New Jersey and what they think the atmosphere and attitude of their college is towards the Trump Administration. Leave a comment!
