Regardless, it's a robbery, and investigators are poring over video images to find the suspect.

According to information on the Lacey Township PD website and Facebook page, the overnight clerk at the shop on Lacey Road in Forked River reported the holdup at 4:44 AM on April 2.

She told officers that a man in a black ski mask, black clothes and tan boots walked in, calmly approached the counter, mumbled something about money to her, took some of the cash she placed on the counter, and left quietly.

Investigators haven't determined how, or in what direction, he left the area, but they say that a K-9 team and detectives from the Ocean County Sheriff's Department searched the surroundings.

Surveillance images show a man about 6 feet in height with a thin-to-medium build, police said.
