An overturned vehicle at the intersection of Hooper Avenue and Walnut Street Saturday afternoon was only the beginning of charges for a Toms River man.

When police arrived to a call about an overturned vehicle near Hooper and Walnut around 4:21 pm Saturday, they expected to just investigate a car accident that was the result of a man driving erratically.

When patrol officers arrived they found 33-year old Brian Roebuck Jr. standing next to his overturned car in the southbound lanes of Hooper Avenue with hypodermic needles on the ground nearby.

However, police say while speaking to Roebuck they spotted another hypodermic needle sticking out of his right front pants pocket.

He was then arrested and checked out by TR CSO's for a cut on his arm but refused further medical attention.

Roebuck was then transported to the Toms River Police Department Jail without incident.

A complaint was signed against Roebuck for Possession of Hypodermic Needles as well as a motor vehicle summonses for Reckless Driving and Failure to Maintain Lane.

The crash is under investigation by Toms River Traffic Officer Terry Warren.

The public is reminded that criminal charges are accusations only. Every criminal defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
