Clear skies tonight will allow New Jerseyans to see a rocket lift into the sky tonight from Virginia.

The Cosmic Infrared Background ExpeRIment (CIBER) will launch tonight between 11 p.m. and midnight from the Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia on a  Black Brant XII suborbital sounding rocket according to NASA. Southern & central counties in New Jersey will be able to see the rocket head into space 120 seconds after launch.

CIBER will allow scientists to study when the first stars and galaxies formed in the universe and how brightly they burned their nuclear fuel.

The launch can be watched via live video stream starting at 10 p.m .
