A Burlington County Doctor heads to prison for six months followed by six of house arrest with electronic monitoring on federal tax evasion charges.  The sentence was handed down to 58-year-old Scott Salkind Medford in a Camden Federal Courtroom Tuesday after earlier pleading guilty to failing to report more than $1 million of income on his federal income tax forms.

New Jersey U.S Attorney Paul Fishman says the licensed Doctor of Osteopathy diverted corporate business receipts into a shell company bank account under his control from 2005 to 2008. Fishman says Salkind then withdrew the money by cashier's checks for his personal expenses.

Salkind also faces three years probation and has paid $430-thousand dollars in restitution.
