Authorities said the alleged plot was foiled Friday when the Hickory Street homeowner refused to open the door after not recognizing the trio.

Police received a call from the resident and another woman around 4:15 a.m. reporting suspicious activity after noticing the individuals trying to get into her locked car on Central Street.

Manchester Police Officers Kyle Rickvalsky and Charles Gatnarek responded to the area and located two adult males and one juvenile male walking in the community.  The two adult males were identified as 23-year-olds Ross of Lakehurst and Dylan C. Cox of North Brunswick. The juvenile was identified as a 15 year old male from Toms River.

Through the course of the investigation, officers found what appeared to be proceeds from vehicle burglaries in their possession.  All three suspects were transported to Police Headquarters for further investigation.

Authorities determined in addition to conspiring to commit and attempting to commit a home invasion, the trio also committed a series of vehicle burglaries.

All three were charged with one count conspiracy to commit robbery, two counts of burglary, one count of criminal attempt burglary, one count of criminal attempt theft, and one count of theft.

Ross and Cox were being held in the Ocean County Jail on $100,000.00 bail.  The juvenile was placed in the Ocean County Juvenile Detention Facility.

The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are pending.

Manchester Police are reminding residents to be alert to their surroundings and to report any suspicious activity to the Department by calling 732-657-6111 or submitting crime tips through the police website under "Tipline" at Manchesterpolicenj.com.
