HIGHLAND PARK — Police are searching for a man who allegedly molested an 11-year-old girl Sunday evening, then fled.

Police say the incident took place at about 9:25 p.m. when the chils went to retrieve her cell phone from the family vehicle. An investigation by the Highland Park Police Department and Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office determined that the man approached the girl and "improperly touched" her.

The girl began screaming and the man immediately fled toward Donaldson Park, according to the prosecutor's office.

Police say the suspect was identified as a white male, between 30 and 40 years old. He has short, spiked hair and is unshaven and was last seen wearing black shorts and a gray T-shirt.

The man is still at large. Police say the investigation is "active and continuing" and ask anyone with information to contact Detective McGraw of the Highland Park Police Department at 732-572-3800, ext. 4263, or Detective Morris of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office at 732-745-4194.
