Long Branch off-duty cop accused of striking, killing pedestrian
A 60 year old woman was killed when she was struck by a Jeep Cherokee, which investigators say was driven by a Long Branch off duty police officer.
According to Monmouth investigators, Detective Jake Pascucci, 28, was driving south in his 2016 Jeep grand Cherokee when he struck a woman crossing the street near the intersection of Broadway. The incident occurred at approximately 10:15 p.m. Friday.
The woman was identified as Karen Borkowski, a 60 year old Stanhope resident.
The Prosecutors Office Serious Collision Analysis Response Team is investigating the crash. It is unknown if Pascucci would face any charges.
Pascucci joined the Long Branch Police Department in 2014 after three years with the Oceanport Police Department. He was named officer of the month in February 2015.
