An Ocean County Grand Jury hands up an indicment against 43-year-old Brian Cassidy of Lakewood on Murder, Theft and various weapons offenses in the death of his mother 61-year-old Gail Conway. According to the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office, the indictment stems from incidents that took place on June 25, 2013 when police discovered Conway deceased and bloody in her bed at her home at 3C Sumac Court around 8:00 am. The Prosecutor's office said Conway's supervisor at CVS in Toms River asked police to do a welfare check because she did not show up to work..

Police determined that Conway's son Brian, who lived at the same residence as she, was driving her vehicle. They located him at around 5:29 pm that evening in driving in Howell Township and had pulled into the Deerwood Park parking lot to walk a dog near the wooded area. They took him into custody without incident.

Cassidy was charged with first degree Murder, three counts of third degree Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose and third degree Theft of a Vehicle. He's been in the Ocean County Jail since his arrest unable to post $1 million dollars bail.

He's scheduled to appear in court for arraignment on February 24th.
