Rough surf conditions will finally subside Friday, as Tropical Storm Maria moves increasingly farther away from the East Coast. Morning waves of 4 to 6 feet will decrease to 2 to 4 feet later in the day. A precautionary High Risk of rip currents continues — use common sense before entering the water through the weekend.

TODAY: N winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 25 kt, diminishing to 5 to 10 kt with gusts up to 15 kt early this afternoon, then becoming SW with gusts up to 15 kt late. Seas 3 to 5 ft. Mainly in E swell with a dominant period of 11 seconds.

TONIGHT: SW winds 5 to 10 kt with gusts up to 15 kt. Seas 3 to 4 ft until early morning, then 2 ft or less. Mainly in E swell with a dominant period of 10 seconds. Scattered showers after midnight.

SAT: NW winds 5 to 10 kt, becoming N 10 to 15 kt late. Seas 2 ft or less, then around 3 ft early in the morning. Mainly in E swell with a dominant period of 10 seconds. A chance of showers early in the morning. A chance of showers in the afternoon.
