The threat that was posted against MRHS on social media on Monday caused a quick reaction from Linwood Police and officials at Mainland Regional High School.

After alerting the community and investigating the validity of the threat to the school and or to its students,  police determined that the MRHS in the threatening post did not stand for Mainland Regional High School.

Threat Sends Police and School into Action

In a post on Facebook Monday evening, Linwood Police said they became aware of a social media post threatening Mainland Regional High School in Linwood.

The police said the threat appeared to have been reposted on several different social media platforms.

Linwood Police worked with officials from Mainland Regional High and the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office to determine the legitimacy of the threat.

Police warned against sharing the post and asked for anyone with a screenshot of the post to forward it to them.

Police Release Statement About Threat

At about 9:45 pm Monday, Linwood Police released a second statement saying that they had investigated the threat and found that it was not a credible threat for Mainland Regional High School.

During their investigation, Linwood Police had contact with another New Jersey police department that has a local school that also uses the initials MRHS.

It was determined that the threat had been intended for that school and that a suspect had been taken into custody in that incident.

I did a search that found there are at least four New Jersey schools using the initials "MRHS".

- Mainland Regional High School

- Manchester Region High School

- Monmouth Regional High School

- Matawan Regional High School.
