If you weren't stuck in your dorm room all four years of college back in the early 2010s, you've definitely had your fair share of these drinks.

Four Loko blew up on New Jersey college campuses like a rocket, and it’s a pretty wild story.

Four Loko was this crazy concoction that mixed alcohol with caffeine and other stimulants, creating a drink that packed a punch like no other. College students (like meeeee😇😇) were drawn to it because it was super cheap and gave a serious buzz—like a party in a can. The energy kick from the caffeine kept the vibes going literally until sunrise and beyond.

The alcohol got everyone tipsy faster, which was perfect for long nights of "studying." Plus, its bold flavors and bright cans made it a total standout perfect for Instagram-worthy product placement in photos of the night you absolutely will not remember. You would black out from this stuff and carry on the next day without a care in the world about what happened the night before. Don't forget, social media was not even remotely close to what it is today.

NJ's former #1 college alcoholic beverage now banned in US forever

Before long, Four Loko became a staple at pre-games and late-night hangouts EVERYWHERE. Of course, the hype came with some issues, and the drink was eventually reformulated to take out the caffeine and other stimulants. Still, Four Loko’s early popularity is a memorable chapter in so many NJ millennials' college party history.

Now, the original version has landed where it will officially stay forever: the list of foods and drinks banned in US. You can still purchase Four Loko, but the formula is completely different than what it was back in the early 2010s. Honestly, what's the point now? I promise you, people were in no way purchasing them because they tasted good.
