“We’re expecting 25 to 35 net fewer domestic Applebee’s restaurants,” according to Applebee’s President Tony Moralejo.

The company also owns IHOP. reports it's all part of the plan.

With the closing of up to 35 Applebee's, 25 new IHOP restaurants are expected to open.

Moralejo went on to say, “With our new development strategy in place, we feel confident in our ability to continue to open up new restaurants and scale the footprint of our brands over time."

It was nearly 7 years ago when Applebee's closed around 100 restaurants throughout the country, but on the flip side, IHOP opened 46 restaurants last year alone.

I'm curious which one you like better.

Are you more of a fan of Applebee's or IHOP?

Choosing between the two, I'd go with Applebee's.

Applebee's first opened back in 1980.

New Jersey is home to 55 Applebee's, so you may have to travel a little more of a distance to find one.

There's no word yet on what locations will be closing and exactly when, but I'll keep you posted.
