This past Memorial Day Weekend was a bit of a surprise.

What was supposed to be a chilly overcast three-day holiday weekend, turned into three days of sun and fun in many of our beach towns, but there were also some issues.

I was talking to one of my neighbors in Seaside Heights who said that it was one of the busiest Memorial Day Weekends they'd seen in all the years they've lived there.

It was also one of the most wild and out of control, according to them.

And I can agree, if you are a resident of many beach towns, then you know his past Memorial Day Weekend was definitely a little more out of control than those in years past.

In Seaside Heights, we had mobs of teenagers getting into fights, people harassing boardwalk shop owners, and police being called left and right.

It was something I'd never seen in all my years coming to the Shore.

A lot of beach towns have already put strict curfews and restrictions in place for teens to try and prevent weekends like this past Memorial Day Weekend from happening.

According to Patch, Ortley Beach enacted a 10 PM to 5 AM curfew for anyone 18 and under to try and stop the pop-up parties and issues the town had last year.

Seaside Heights is also looking into putting some sort of curfew in place to prevent the peace from being disturbed, according to Shore Beat.

Another Jersey Shore Town Is Getting Ready To Enact A Very Strict Curfew.

It doesn't just affect rowdy teens either which really surprised me.

Portions of these new rules coming to America's Greatest Vacation Town will affect everybody regardless of age.

This Week, Ocean City New Jersey will vote to enact a very strict set of rules to try and counteract the craziness the town saw of this past Memorial Day Weekend.

What New Rules Are Coming To Ocean City New Jersey?

According to NJ.com, there are a lot of changes coming to the town barring the new rules getting passed at this week's city meeting.

The rules would close the beaches to everyone at 8 PM, people will not be able to carry backpacks on the boardwalks after 8 PM, and after 10 PM all boardwalk bathrooms would be closed to the public.

Those rules would apply to people of all ages, not just those 18 and under.

The new juvenile curfew would also be changed, moving up to 11 PM rather than starting at 1 AM.

Would Ocean City NJ's New Ordinances Be Going Too Far?

Police responded to almost 1,000 calls in Ocean City alone over the Memorial Day weekend which is outrageous.

I also know the police were all over the place in Seaside Heights too, a huge fistfight broke out at the end of my block on Saturday night.

I feel like the Proposed Ocean City Ordinance is taking some steps to help with the issues the town saw last weekend like the earlier curfew for juveniles and closing the beaches earlier.

I mean, Seaside Heights closes its beaches each night too.

However, I feel like banning backpacks on the boardwalks for all ages, as well as closing public bathrooms early may be a step too far.

I for one keep all of my personal effects in a backpack when I go out.
