Staffing Shortages Leave NJ Lake Closed to Swimmers This Summer
It's been a rough summer for beaches so far.
Since the start of the summer season, we've seen beaches close off their swimming areas to the general public all over the Jersey Shore.

Why Are Jersey Shore Beaches Closing for Swimming?
From Beachwood to Seaside Park, all the way up to parts of Sandy Hook and the Highlands, beaches have closed off access to their swimming areas due to higher-than-acceptable levels of fecal bacteria found in the waters.
Dirty Water Isn’t the Only Reason for Beach Closures

However, dirty water isn't the only reason that some beaches are having to ban swimming to the public this summer, as another popular New Jersey Beach is yet to open its waters up to swimmers, and it's because of staffing issues.
High Point State Park: Swimming Closed Due to Lifeguard Shortage
They say nobody wants to work, right?
Well, that seems to be the case at High Point State Park, where the water has been closed to swimmers since the start of the summer season due to a lack of available lifeguards.
According to NJ.com, the waters at Lake Marcia at High Point State Park have been closed because the lake can't find anyone to guard the waters.
Can You Still Visit Lake Marcia?
That being said, the beach at Lake Marcia is open to the public; it's just swimming that is a no-go.
Despite a lack of lifeguards at Lake Marcia, the State Park Service did make it pretty clear that there are still several watering areas that are open and guarded this summer, from Island Beach State Park to Belleplain State Forest, and Parvin State Park, just to name a few.
