Ignorance is winning.

People are not wearing masks, they are not social distancing, and they are certainly not taking the health crisis we are facing seriously. That is precisely and probably the only reason why cases of COVID-19 are rising in New Jersey.

Governor Murphy has done many things that I disagree with, but he has managed to get New Jersey better than most other states in the country. Last week, we slowly saw an uptick of cases, but now we are witnessing a full-fledged outbreak again.

The most unfortunate part is that there are people out there still trying to make this political. They are still not wearing a mask when they need to and claim that it is against their rights. Besides having a legitimate medical condition, there is absolutely no reason you shouldn't wear a mask in public.

Governor Murphy has repeated time and time, especially after reopening gyms and diners, that he would shut the state down if cases started to rise again. Well, here we are. Cases are surging in New Jersey.

New Jersey has reported 823 new cases of the virus, and hospitalizations are now above 700. If we don't get this outbreak under control, New Jersey will be under mandatory lockdown again, and with an election right around the corner -- we are staring down the barrel of a gun. That gun is political and economic unrest.

What can you do? Follow the health guidelines issued by the CDC and New Jersey Health Department:

  • Stay at least six feet away from people (social distance).
  • Wear a mask.
  • Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds.

We can do this.
