35-year-old Erica Kotelnicki was arrested Tuesday for allegedly possessing and distributing heroin outside a Walgreens and within 1,000 feet of a school zone.

Kotelnicki was in possession of a quantity of heroin which was prepared for immediate distribution when detectives encountered her, according to Police Chief Karin T. DiMichele.

Kotelnicki had been under investigation for months by detectives from the Township and the County, DiMichele said.

Search warrants for her home and vehicle resulted in detectives seizing heroin, cocaine, digital scales and cash, DiMichele said.

DeMichele noted that the probe is ongoing, but it's not believed Kotelnick was working at the time of her arrest.

Kotelnicki was being held in the Ocean County Jail in Toms River on $125,000 bail with no 10 percent option.

Additional arrests and charges are pending, according to DiMichele. She credited concerned citizens who reported suspicious activity to police with leading to Kotelnicki's arrest.

Residents are reminded that they can contact the Berkeley Police TIP Line at 732-341-1132 x611.  TIPS can be anonymous.
